Obituary of Robert E. Meloney

Rev. Robert E. Meloney, 86, died on Friday November 14, 2008 at St. Clares Hospital in Dover, NJ.
Born in Trenton and raised in Princeton, NJ, he served in the US Marine Corps during WWII in the South Pacific.
After the War Rev. Meloney enrolled in Drew University in Madison, NJ where he received his BA from Brothers College. After graduating from Drew Seminary he was ordained as a United Methodist minister in 1950. His service to the church spanned 28 years, and following the tradition of the Methodist Church, Rev. Meloney served in Green Village, Boonton, Mt. Tabor, Dumont and Denville Community Church United Methodist from which he retired and continued to serve as Pastor Emeritus from 1991 to the present.
Rev. Meloney was active in many local community organizations.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gretchen Elmiger Meloney; son, Kirk Meloney and wife Jean; and daughter Meredith Olver and husband Clark. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Nathan and Laura Meloney, and Caitlin and Megan Olver.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22 at 2:00 pm at the Denville
Community Church United Methodist located at 190 Diamond Spring Rd Denville, N.J.
