Mr.Cooke,
I will always have a place in my heart for you.The fondest memories, were at Gardener Field when you were my coach for Spitalny Kitchens and Denville Auto Parts. You showed me the same respect as if I was another boy playing baseball.
The greatest moment in my baseball history was at Field 1.I was on the Majors at the time playing for Denville Pharmacy. You,looking on just as any other coach would do,with that passion in your eyes for the game, rooting and supporting your team and your pitcher. The pitcher's name was Brian Gotty.I will never forget that name as long as I live.
My team was up.I stepped up to the plate.I could here your boisterous voice in the background.Especially saying to Brian,"Strike her out!"Yes,I was alittle tense at first. But,I wasn't going to let that or anything get in my way for trying to make a hit.God only knew what was to come next. And boy,it was going to be a shockwave!
Brian pitched the ball. All of the sudden,"Clunk!" from the aluminum bat!The ball went soaring into the air and flying right over Field 1's centerfield's fence.
HOMERUN!!!!It happened so fast.My adreneline pumped through me like lightning. My team jumping and shouting with excitement.Your team was in shock!I was in shock!I looked at you. You definitely were in shock, shaking you head, your eyes having a blank stare.Through all that, you gave me a big smile, complimented me and gave me a strong handshake. That mad me happy.I knew you were very proud of me when I slugged that ball out of there. You were one of the witnesses to my 1st biggest accomplishments in my little league career.
As life went on,I have had my struggles.Everything happens for a reason.God put you there at times when I needed the support the most.I am ever so grateful for that.No matter how many times I had fallen, you gave me the support, guidance, faith, and most importantly unconditional love.In alot of ways,I thought of you as a father figure in my life.I will miss you very much, like so many other people.I will always have the memories of you and your wisdom to get me through lifes struggles one day at a time!!Thank you Mr.Cooke.I love you!!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Becky and the entire Cooke family at this time. We had the pleasure of working with Dick as our MetLife representative for many years. Dick would always stop by to say Hello and share stories about his grandchildren whom he loved so very much. He was a friendly man with a warm smile. He will be missed.
Fondly,
Your friends at Hackensack University Medical Center, Human Resources Department
