Obituary of Virginia A. Cardillo

Virginia A. Cardillo (nee Schultz) passed away Thursday June 12, 2008 at the Compassionate Care Hospice of St. Clares Hospital in Dover, NJ.
She was born in Newark, NJ in 1931, and graduated from Blessed Sacrament Commercial in 1947.
In 1960 she attended the Newark Police and Fire Academy. Out of 45 women who applied, she was one out of two women to be recruited and assigned to the Youth Aid Bureau. Later she went onto to become one of the first female detectives for the city of Newark. She served with the city for 26 years before retiring in 1986.
Pre-deceased by her husband of 54 years Gerard Cardillo in 2004, her parents John and Anna Schultz and three brothers Joseph, Michael and Andrew.
She is survived by her loving children, son Gerard of Marshal Creek, PA and Cynthia of Stroudsburg, PA, daughter Rosemari Roscoe and husband John of Denville, NJ. Her three cherished grandchildren Ryan, Melissa and Domenic.
She is also survived by her sister Grace V. Smith of Clermont, FL, and her sisters in-law Anna Quigley of Rahway, NJ, Rose Mary Cardillo of Lyndhurst, NJ and her brother in-law Phil Cardillo of Toms River, NJ, as well as several loving nieces and nephews.
She will be dearly missed.
A memorial mass will be held in the future.
