Jack was a volunteer for us at the Mountainside Hospital Foundation. He affectionately called me Krissy, which was also the name of his granddaughter - a name nobody calls me except for my own grandmother. For the year I've known Jack, his presence always made me smile. We would exchange banter and jokes, and he'd tell me stories about his time in the service and memories of his wife. On a trip to Vermont, I brought him back a bottle of his favorite, pure maple syrup, instead of that "store bought crap" as he put it. Jack was feisty, but it was refreshing to see a man who could live life to the fullest, no holds barred. I will miss his sense of humor, almost as much as I'll miss hearing his AM radio from across the hall of my office. My condolences to the Geiger family.
