On one of their many, blessed Anniversary celebrations, which we were so honored to have attended, I'l always remember her singing directly to George, "I'm Glad There Is You"! So loving, poignant and perfectly on key! Dori had an amazing gift of voice among her many talents, but this one memory brought tears to my eyes! I'll never forget that day!

I consider it to be a blessing to have had Doris (Dori, as I called her) for a dear friend in my life. She was a most gifted writer and so loved her students while teaching elementary school. She emitted such grace and elegance in all she represented, being a fashion forward icon whom I admired tremendously. Some of the fondest memories I have are times spent with Dori, and her devoted loving husband , George, and my late husband, Norman, who thought the world of her. We shared many, many times together going to wonderful restaurants, shows, outings too many to list. Having them to our house for dinner, partiularly in winters with our fire blazing, just warms my heart to recall those days. But those that are most near and dear to my heart are holidays spent at their beautiful homes, both at the Cottage in Tobyhanna, Pa., and Rockaway, N.J.,wherein we always felt very special and welcome. She possessed a great talent in decorating, with George by her side, assisting wherever needed, resulting in a home filled with great love and serenity. The most cherished memories are attending the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Newark, NJ for their annual Christmas Carol sing along and candlight service, followed by dinners in the Portugeuse section in Newark. Amidst all the many social events, my favorite memories are those wherein we'd be invited for a "simple, Sunday Pasta dinner" at their home. We spent countless time reminiscing about vintage movies, surrounded by the enormous photo collection of movie stars with so much nostalgia and bittersweet laughter about how current day life had changed.
Watching them together on a dance floor was so special. Definitely a beautiful marriage made in Heaven. Dori possessed a joie de vivre in all she did and truly loved and respected all of nature and God's gifts.
I will forever be grateful for the years we shared as friends and pray that she Rests in Eternal Peace. I will miss you dear, beloved friend, for always.

Grandma Dori, I will forever hold you near and dear to my heart. You were such a special grandmother, always smiling and interested in all your grandchildrens lives. I have so many beautiful memories of when you would come over and we’d have our special moment where you would come in my room and look at all my new school clothes. You were always so kind, loving, and gentle and had such a glow about you that everyone loved. Im so happy she met my grandpa, he deserves the best and he sure got it with Dori! I want to honor the fact how happy she made my Grandpa for many years, they are the perfect match. I never once heard them have an argument, she was just always calling him “hon“ evertime I was around her and Grandpa. She was the type of person who i could listen to her talk forever and she gave the best advice and guidance all the time with her true loving intention. Ill miss you so much, but i know how much your Mom meant to you and im sure you two and your Dad are together now. Until i see you again one day... Rest in Peace to a beautiful soul;my grandmother Doris.
