Obituary of Marianne B. Ladisheff

Marianne Ladisheff, born on June 24, 1943 in Jersey City, NJ passed away peacefully on July 3, 2024 at the Villa Marie Claire Hospice facility in Saddle River, NJ after a recent decline in health. Marianne had just celebrated her 81^st birthday while in hospice. She was surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren, and her favorite ice cream cake from her beloved Denville Dairy.

Marianne was one of four children born to Charles and Theresa (Kosak) Greening. She had many happy memories of her childhood in Bergenfield, NJ alongside her 3 brothers, Charles Jr., Mark, and Daniel.  She attended Holy Rosary Academy in Union City, and after graduating in 1961, was called to join the Congregation of the Sisters of the Catholic Apostolate, in Harriman, NY. While pursuing her religious vocation there, Marianne also attended Fordham University and graduated with a BA in education. She dedicated her energy and passion to teaching at the high school level.

After several years, Marianne realized that her true calling was to have a family. She left the convent in the early 1970’s, and soon met the love of her life, Harry Ladisheff. They were wed in 1975, and settled in Denville, NJ where they proudly raised six children on Woodstone Road. While still teaching full time, Marianne completed two MA’s in education and administration. She taught high school biology for many years, and retired from her long teaching career at Passaic County Vo-tech High School. 

Harry and Marianne spent 20 happy years enjoying retirement in Hudson, FL. They enjoyed traveling the United States together, and proudly checked off their bucket list goal of visiting each of the 50 states. In 2019, Harry and Marianne returned to NJ to be closer to their growing family.

Marianne filled her time with crocheting, painting ceramics, trying new soups, and spoiling her grandchildren. She could make anything. She could talk to anyone.  And her sharp wit, and sarcastic sass has been passed down to several of her grandchildren, much to her delight. 

Though her passing brings us sadness, we take comfort in knowing her memory will live on. She was a devoted wife to Harry. She was a loving mother to Harry Lee Ladisheff (Julie Hope) of North Plainfield, NJ, Lisa Gorgas (Fred) of Succasunna NJ, Donna Roach (Jim) of Mesa, AZ, Terry Ladisheff (Nick Sterry) of Carlisle, MA, Kevin Ladisheff of Tempe AZ, and Laura Stuss (Gordon) of Mountain Lakes, NJ. She was immensely proud of her 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her caring brother, Daniel (Joanne) Greening, and her lifelong best friend, Cathie Duna. She is predeceased by her husband, Harry Ladisheff, and her brothers Charles Greening Jr., Mark Greening, and granddaughter Jennifer Gorgas. 

Marianne was the heart of our family, and she will be greatly missed. She remained staunch in her Catholic faith, and her family is confident that she is now with her angels, and Home with the Lord.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family for visitation on Friday July 26^th from 6 – 8 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday July 27^th at 10 am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 10 N. Pocono Road, Mountain Lakes, NJ. Burial will immediately follow at Denville Cemetery.
