Obituary of Martin R. Kahn

Please share a memory of Martin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Martin R. Kahn who passed away on June 25, 2024, at Hackensack Medical Center.

Martin was born on November 7, 1938, to Henry and Elizabeth Kahn in Jersey City. He was raised alongside his two sisters and eventually Martin started his career as a truck driver.

Martin was extremely proud of his work and his membership to the Teamsters Local Union 560. He retired from Roadway Trucking after many years of service and hard work. Martin was a hard worker, through and through, and had a strict routine that he held himself to. He was very punctual, very tidy, and sometimes people found his personality to be a bit quirky. He had a great sense of humor and was a great story teller. He told stories to his children and grandchildren about the cherished memories he had from his own childhood and would frequently tell stories about his animals. Some of his favorite memories, though, were of his beloved wife, Lynn Kahn. The pair had a beautiful relationship filled with love and laughter. Since her recent passing Martin has missed her dearly.

In his free time, Martin was an avid reader and even kept up with the daily news from Maryland; a state he loved and spent many years residing in. Martin was also passionate about many charities and would donate whenever he could to animal shelters, children in need, and many other causes.

With that in mind, if you would like to contribute to Martin’s memory in your own way, please consider making a charitable contribution to North Star Pet Rescue; a shelter for animals in need that Martin himself worked with. Donations can be made by way of inmemof.org.

It brings us great sorrow to lose this wonderful man, but we take comfort in knowing he is at peace; reunited with his beloved wife, Lynn Kahn. It is now that we look to his survivors to continue on his legacy; his children, Mary Jane Weinstein (Mitchell), Sheri Trick (David), Martin M. Kahn (Shelley), Joseph Kahn, his grandchildren, Whitney Trick-Hector (Maurice), Erica Roberts (Chrisanna), Carissa Kahn, Tiera Kahn, Mackenzie Kahn, Justin Kahn, James Kahn, his great-grandchildren, Shai Hector, Kailah Hector, his sisters, Elizabeth Otto, Kathleen Mann, as well as a wealth of friends and family who will remember him fondly.

A public visitation for Martin will be held on Sunday, June 30th from 1 to 4 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services in Denville. Come help us celebrate the life of this incredible man, and please use this page to leave a condolence, share a memory, or light a candle to continue to let Martin’s light shine!
