Obituary of David Jon Welch

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of David Welch on April 1, 2024, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, FL. He had shared 64 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and unforgettable memories with family and friends in his short time on this Earth. He was a beloved husband to Patricia Welch for 38 years.

Born on March 26, 1960, in Newark, New Jersey, he was the oldest of six children to Florence and David Welch Sr. He graduated from Morris Knolls High School. He worked as an Electrician at several locations until his retirement.

Dave was an easygoing Christian man who enjoyed music, photography, and the fine arts. He was very well liked and more recently known throughout the Cape Canaveral and South Floridian photography scene. One gift Dave had was knowing when someone needed to be seen. And he made sure you knew he sees you. Whether he met you at the beach, or was behind you at the register if you needed a friend, Dave was going to make sure you had one. He could talk to anyone and never get tired of talking to you.

Dave was a father, brother, and grandfather who touched the lives of many with his infectious spirit. Whether it was through his photography and art, reassuring words, or extroverted personality, he made an undeniable impact on everyone he encountered throughout the course of his life. He met many likeminded individuals who valued the arts as he did through the compositions he would make and share with the world. He also loved animals, especially his dog Axel. They would spend their days watching the sunset over Cocoa Beach, Dave snapping pictures along their walks.

He will be remembered for his generous, charismatic, and extroverted personality. He would always give you a shoulder to cry on, genuine judgement-free advice, or the shirt off his back.

His legacy will live on in the hearts of his adored family; his beloved wife of 38 years, Patricia Welch; his treasured daughters, Rachel Welch and Nicole Welch; his cherished grandchildren, Amyah Troche, Aubrey Troche, Alyssa Johnson, and Raiden Welch; his loving mother Florence; three brothers Steven, Kenneth, and Kevin Welch and a sister, Susan Principe; along with a nephew and many nieces. He is predeceased by his brother, Donald Welch (2006) and his father, David Welch, Sr. (2022).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 2nd from 2 – 6 pm at the American Legion Post 249 Parsippanong, 91 N. Beverwyck Rd., Lake Hiawatha, NJ.
