Obituary of Carolyn K. Wescott

Carolyn K. Wescott passed away peacefully with her loving family surrounding her on April 30th 2024 at Morristown Medical Center. She spent her last three years living at Lester Independent Senior Living in Whippany, New Jersey. Carolyn had shared 88 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Carolyn was born and raised in Hutchinson, Kansas to the late Carl and Edna Schoeller; she was the third born of six children. She started High School in Kansas and later completed High School in New Jersey. Carolyn then met a young United States Navy man by the name of Roy Wescott who was stationed in Kansas and swept Carolyn off her feet. After Roy and Carolyn got married in Kansas on March 22nd 1955, they both decided to go back to Roy’s home state of New Jersey to put down roots and build a family. Roy and Carolyn eventually settled in Mount Tabor where Carolyn found her true calling at being the most attentive wife, supportive sister and doting mother. Roy supported his family and worked at his family business at Hygrade in Morristown while Carolyn worked to make their house a loving home raising her three children. Roy also volunteered at Mount Tabor Fire Department. Roy and Carolyn became dedicated members of the United Methodist Church at Mount Tabor; Carolyn poured her heart into the Mount Tabor Church Community. As Carolyn’s children grew older, Carolyn went back to work and her most memorable career was working for Warner-Lambert/Pfizer for twenty years before retiring in 1994. After Roy’s passing in 1986, Carolyn then stepped up as Matriarch of our family. She was strong and independent, yet compassionate and loved fiercely.

Family always came first in Carolyn’s life. She sent cards out to everyone for occasions such as a birthday, holiday, or even just a special dinner. Carolyn always had all of our best interests at heart and putting others before herself was a normal, every day occurrence. Carolyn would never be seen without looking her best; she was a classy dignified woman. She was also an incredible baker, having been known for her delicious apple pie. She loved to decorate and have a good time especially for Halloween. Every Halloween Carolyn would make chili and hot dogs for the family. Carolyn was the history buff, keeper of the family tree, and the glue who kept us all together. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved husband Roy, her parents, and her siblings, Fred, Lola, and Pat.

Carolyn leaves only joyful memories to her adored children, Denise Luca and her husband Jeff, Sherrie Douglas and her husband Jay, and Ronald Wescott; her six cherished grandchildren; her four treasured great grandchildren; her caring siblings Anne Schoeller and Sonje Tomey; and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends are welcome to visit with the family on Friday May 10th from 2pm-4pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Funeral service will take place on Saturday May 11th at 10am at the United Methodist Church at Mount Tabor, 5 Simpson Avenue, Mount Tabor. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Carolyn’s memory to the Mount Tabor United Methodist Church or the Special Olympics by way of www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation.
