Obituary of Sue B. Buechler
Solveig “Sue” Buechler passed away peacefully at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown on Saturday, April 20, 2024. She had shared 73 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.
Born in Newark, NJ to the late John and Elouise Boysen, Sue was raised in Rutherford, NJ. She was the only child to bless their household. After graduating from St. Mary High School, Sue went on to earn her Bachelor & Master Degrees from what was Paterson State College, now referred to as William Paterson University, in English. She met her best friend and future husband, Alan L. Buechler, in 1973; they were married on May 26, 1974 and as they say, the rest is history. The happy couple settled into Denville, NJ and began a family of their own. She had worked for Drew University, retiring in 2004 as Administrative Assistant to one of the Vice Presidents.
Sue treasured her family. She looked forward to the annual trips to Fort Myers, FL. Her happy place was at home, with her boys, snuggled on the couch with a dog keeping her feet warm. She took great care of the many pugs that she brought home throughout the years and she was particularly fond her Papillon. Sue was a talented knitter and crocheter, making many items for us to cherish, especially now. She was also skilled at playing instruments; brass and stringed instruments and folk music were her specialty. She loved all types of music and enjoyed exploring different musical styles. She truly was a remarkable, one-of-a-kind woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her loving family; her beloved husband, Alan “Al” Buechler; her caring son, Christian Buechler; her supportive step-sons, Steven Buechler and Robert Buechler and his wife Debra; her cherished grandchildren, the late Benjamin Buechler and Rachael Buechler; her caring brother-in-law, Albert C. Buechler and his wife, Joyce; and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, May 4th at 11 am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Green Pond Rd, Rockaway Township, NJ 07866. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Sue’s memory by way of www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation to the Randolph Regional Animal Shelter. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, or share your favorite memory of Sue here to continue to celebrate her life and let her light shine on.
