Obituary of Helen S. Maltby
Helen Sonja (Olsen) Maltby passed away at Merry Heart Assisted Living in Succasunna, NJ on April 19, 2024, at the age of 93.
Born in Jersey City to Ernst A. Olsen and Martine (Seland) Olsen. She and her sister Evelyn and her parents moved to the Lake Telemark section of Rockaway Township where they lived for many years. After marrying Fred Maltby, they moved to Newfoundland, NJ,, and then Wyckoff, NJ. When Fred passed away in 1985, Helen moved to Oakland, NJ before moving to Succasunna in 2021.
Helen worked at Thiokol Reaction Motors Division in Rockaway for many years. Thereafter, she worked at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and retired from Pfizer. She was a 60+ year member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and a 50+ year member of the Nor-Bu Lodge in Lake Telemark.
She loved taking pictures of family, extended family members and friends and was affectionately known as the family photographer. She has many picture albums to show and share.
She is survived by her cousins Sandra Cobb, Grace Vandergoot, Rosemarie Capalbo and Alice Lousberg and several cousins in Norway.
Funeral services will be held on Friday April 26, 2024, at 10:00AM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ 07834, www.normandean.com.
Interment will follow at Marcella Union Cemetery in Rockaway Twp., NJ.
Memorial donations can be made in her memory to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockaway Twp., NJ by way of www.inmemof.org.
