To the Caufield Family,
I am very sorry for your loss. Mr. Caufield was a wonderful father, he was also a great mentor, friend, police officer and firefighter. He loved his children very much and they loved him just as much in return. He will be truly missed by many. Shannon and Erin, sending you both lots of love and hugs during this difficult time. Take comfort in knowing how many lives your father had touched and made a difference in. Rest in Peace Mr. Caufield....

Where to begin to honor a great friend, mentor, and teacher. Dick truly was all of these things. It was a privilege to have known him and all the great memories our families were able to share. I spoke with Dick recently and he couldn’t stop talking about his love for Shannon, Erinn, and his grandchildren. Sue and I wish you all peace and healing.
I happen to be in Dublin and will be sure to raise a pint of Guinness to my good friend.

I didn’t good to know Richard until the last couple of years and I’m so glad I did. When I found out he was also a veteran we had some great talks about our past service in the Navy! I finally found a fellow Navy guy to swap “Swabbie” stories with. He had great stories and it was such a blessing to hear them. Even more gratifying was the stories we would tell about our grandkids. He TRULY loved his! I first met him when he came to watch some of them participate in the Christmas Concert at our school. He also loved his daughters Shannon and Erinn and loved how much they were part of his life! You will be missed, but now you are with our Great Commander in Chief, the Lord Jesus Christ!

Our prayers and thoughts go out to family and friends of Dick. A true friend and “Brother”. What an honor and privilege to work with Dick. He was a mentor to me during our days as K-9 officers. So many memories and good times.

A life of service is full time. It's a mindset ... Dick, your dad looked around and asked himself how he could make it better, and then did those things every day. Sometimes making things better turned into elaborate plans but he never gave up. Oh the stories ... the memories of firehouse, PBA and times spent with your family. Jim loved to reminisce and tell Dick stories from police days. Your dad made a difference in so many lives and I will smile each time I remember him.

Please accept my sincerest condolences to your entire family. I will remember how Mr. Caufield always put his two daughters and his grandchildren first. He proudly attended school activities when able and always dressed to impress for the occasion. He always checked a room for safety and made sure we knew where to exit! I will remember how he fondly gave my twins the nickname frick and frack! That always made me laugh! He was a kind man and I will remember that the most.
