Obituary of Wendy Shibla
Wendy Shibla passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, April 8, 2024 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s. She had shared 74 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to the late Thor and Gladys Stene, Wendy grew up alongside her sister, Valerie. She graduated from Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn, class of 1966. Wendy then went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in French from Montclair State University. She married her best friend, James Shibla, on June 27, 1970. The happy couple eventually settled into Allentown, PA where Wendy became an Accountant for H&R Block. She retired in 2000 after 20 years of hard work and dedication.
Wendy was a member of American Association of University Women (AAUW). She was kind and genuine. She would light up a room with her bubbly personality and contagious smile. She had a calming nurturing side as a Mom and Grandma. Yet, she could hang wallpaper exceptionally! After retirement, Wendy and her best friend began a t-shirt painting business. She was also very talented in needlepoint, like her Momma. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, James, and her parents.
Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her loving family members, her adored son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Samantha Shibla; her treasured grandson, Ashton Shibla; her devoted sister, Valerie Usher; and her dear friend, Denise Jones.
Public visitation will be held on Monday, April 15th from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm with Funeral Service beginning at 12:30 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Burial will follow at Marcella Union Cemetery in Rockaway. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates gifts in Wendy’s memory by way of www.inmemof.org to the Alzheimer’s Association as we continue this fight and hope for advancements in treatment, and, one day, a cure. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Wendy here to continue to celebrate her life and let her light shine bright.
