Obituary of Elizabeth B. Myett

Elizabeth B. Myett passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday, March 29, 2024 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, NJ. She had shared 86 years of love, laughter, wisdom, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Born in Columbia, PA to the late Henry and Elizabeth Bishop, Elizabeth broke the mold when entering this world. She did not have an easy life, yet she overcame any and every thing with kindness and a smile. Liz grew up in Linden, NJ with her sister, Robin. After graduating from Linden High School, she worked as a Lifeguard for Lake Shawnee. This job changed her life forever; she met her true soulmate, best friend and future husband, William John Myett. They married on November 16, 1957 and settled into the Indian Lake section of Denville to raise a family of their own. Elizabeth was an incredible wife, however she found her genuine calling when she became a Mom. She was so enamored with her children that she became the Nursery School Teacher for Denville Community Methodist Church, where she was a dedicated volunteer and parishioner. In 1988, William and Liz retired to their beautiful home on Smith Mountain Lake, VA which was often referred to as “Paradise”. It truly was their Heaven on Earth, and they deserved it. They spent 30 years there where Liz and Bill were active members of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and their choir and bell choir.

Liz did this magical thing as a Mom. She journaled her life with her children everywhere, including in her cook books. They can recount not only regular life events, but all the small things, too. Mom was special like that. She went above and beyond helping others. Everyone she met was an instant friend. She was trend setter. She was a terrific cook, leaving her family satisfied and full with home cooked meals every night. Liz would make soup and bread, from scratch, and deliver it to the community through the soup ministry at church. She put others above herself consistently. She loved nature, taught us how to live comfortably on a budget, and never shied away from asking anyone anything, at any time. We admire her ability to enjoy life, properly. Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her parents, step-father, Edward Kreitsek, and husband, William.

Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her adored children, Ken Myett and his wife Kathleen, Linda (the late Geraldo) Soto, and Suzy Myett; her cherished grandchildren, Emily Burger and her husband Kenneth and Hannah Myett and their partner Christopher Burati; her treasured great-grandchildren, Kellan and Callia; her caring sister, Robin Besermin and her husband Steve; and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 3rd from 4 - 7 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, April 5th at 10 am at Denville Community United Methodist Church, 190 Diamond Spring Road, Denville. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Liz's memory by way of www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation to the Denville Community Church Preschool.
