Obituary of Daniel F. Crean
Daniel F. Crean passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at The Oaks Healthcare Center in Denville, NJ. He had shared 91 years of unconditional love, unwavering faith, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.
Born and raised in Stoughton, MA to the late Dennis and Rosabel Crean, Daniel was the 9th of 10 children to bless their household. After graduating High School, he went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Massachusetts at Lowell. Daniel then proudly served our country in the United States Navy. He met the love of his life, Constance, while living in Connecticut. The happy couple married on July 7, 1962 and relocated to NJ to begin a family of their own. Daniel was a smart man and a very hard worker. He began his career in Marketing with The Monsanto Company before finding his forever home with American Cyanamid Company. While working with American Cyanamid, Daniel and his family were moved around a bit; they had created a home in Bound Brook, NJ, Georgia, Florida, and Kinnelon, NJ. He officially retired as a Marketing Manager in 1993 after 34 years of service in Pensacola, Florida. Daniel and Constance remained in Florida until returning home to NJ in 2013 to be closer to family.
Daniel was an avid golfer; his second home was on the course. He was excellent at trivia and often answered the questions correctly during the nightly watching of Jeopardy! If he wasn’t watching Jeopardy, you could find a sports game on the TV. Above anything else, his family and his faith were most important to him. He was a dedicated Catholic, having been a member of church in every area he had lived. He adored his family and spent as much time as possible with them. One thing that was passed on from his Mom to his children and then grandchildren, was saying “Remember who you are” prior to anyone leaving the house. We will always remain grounded in family and faith, thanks to Dad.
He leaves a legacy that will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife of nearly 62 years, Constance Margaret; his loving children, Daniel J. Crean, Lynn (David) Alberts, Diane (Edward) Chester, Robert “Bob” (Melissa) Crean, and Amy Elizabeth Wells; his cherished grandchildren, Michael, Emily, and Patrick Alberts, Lucas Chester, Emma, Abigail, and Liam Wells, and Alex and Ryan Crean; his caring brother-in-law, Peter (the late Betty) Ventresco; and many dear extended family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 5th at 11 am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 10 N Pocono Rd, Mountain Lakes, NJ 07046. Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Magnificat Church Cemetery, 2 Miller Rd, Kinnelon, NJ 07405. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, or share your favorite memory of Daniel here to continue to celebrate his life and let his light shine on.
