To the Crane family
I read the post on Facebook and I started crying in disbelief...
The Holy Trinity family has been so good to me especially Ellen n Art ... both Art's.
Art shared a book he loved with me on Abraham Lincoln...
I love history... it was detailed about his childhood days ...and into the White House ...
It was sweet of him to share that with me...
I look up to men like Art... so down to earth n ...
honestly, much like my late husband Steven...
Wow ... Art you lived a great life...
loving God n serving the community,
Humanity, and your beloved family and country.
God has blessed you...
In my heart is a forever imprint of the beautiful soul that touched my heart in such a simple way.
The body goes but the spirit lives on...
Well done ...good n faithful servant
Deep peace to the family ...
Sincerely
Felicia Serr

I had the honor of being a high school classmate, college roommate and fraternity brother of Art’s. He remained the same easy going, humble and selfless person his whole life. He was a determined and dedicated worker no matter the task at hand. He was a born leader who lead by example. He wanted to be a surgeon and possessed the dexterity and hand eye coordination to have been a great one. Like many pre-med students Art hit a speed bump with organic chemistry. Unlike some he refused to let this keep him from finding a way to use his skills to help others. He was like a magician when it came to fixing things. He also was able to find a way to save fives via the fire and rescue service. Art’s middle name should have been “Servce”, as in service to others. He served his country in the US Marine Corps. He served his community by providing honest and reliable repair service. He served his community on the planning commission, the fire and rescue service. He served his family by being a wonderful spouse and father to Artie and Jeff. His community grew to depend on Art. He was always there for them, day or night. He will be missed. He had good judgement and common sense. After all he married Ellen, his high school sweetheart. He will be missed. He had a wry and impish sense of humor. He will be missed. I feel like a piece of me is gone. He will be missed. He was a marvelous example for all who knew him to follow. He will be missed.

Art Crane was one of the nicest, cranky guys I ever met. I have known him since I was a little girl and remember he would help me cross Green Pond Road back then.
He was always there for me when I needed help with my vehicles and joined us on those 4th of July parties over the years to watch the fireworks. I can go on and on.
Art, you will be greatly missed… Rest in Peace.

There are friends in life, and friends that turn into Family in life, if you are lucky enough!
I am THANKFUL, GRATEFUL & BLESSED to call the Crane Family, Family fir the last 43 years.
Last night Art when “Home” as he wanted, it has been a gift to be able to take care of him the last 3 months, and in the end get the chance to Thank him for all he did in our life. Fun times! Crazy times! Jalope fixes! Jalope tow’s! firehouse calls, and ambulance calls, tears if of loss, and tears if joy. This man served our Country as a Marine proudly, gave our town 53 years as a volunteer fire fighter, a Past Company Chief, Past Dept. Chief, 25 years on the planning board, all while running his own business and raising his two boys, and giving his heart to many with the gift of help, to his neighbors in need no matter what!
Sure he was rough on the outside, but I was lucky enough to know the gentle giant and ALL the greatness that made him Art.
Rest in peace, and smile down once in awhile. Till we meet again my friend. Thank you❤️

Lake Telemark & Hibernia lost a truly wonderful man. As a kid growing up in Lake Telemark, we all knew the ice was safe when Mr. Crane drove his truck out there plowed the snow off the ice. As an adult and fellow member in Hibernia fire company with him, he was a teacher, great mentor and always eager to teach the newbies the ropes. I can recall many drills and calls that Art was a part of and taught us all many lessons… along with some laughs. Art is going to be missed by many in this community, his friends, fellow firefighters but most of all, his family. Thoughts and Prayers to the Crane Family. Rest Easy Chief…

Farewell to a dear friend and mentor. After leaving Hibernia I always looked forward to sharing some time with Art at the Firemen’s Convention. He was the type of friend, that no matter how much time had passed, we could pick up like we had just recently been together. I will miss him. Condolences to Ellen, Artie, Jeff, and all of his family. May Art rest forever peacefully, we know he deserves it.

Crane Family! Had the distinct pleasure to know Art a long time first during my young years as a Denville Fire Fighter and later as a Telemark resident. My most fond memory was after I was injured at a house fine in Hibernia after I stopped to assist while driving home from work! Art wax one of the first to show up at my door to offer anything that was needed! RIP Art you earned your wings decades ago!
