Obituary of Joseph Anthony Beattie

Joseph Anthony “Joe” Beattie passed away at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, NJ on February 9, 2024, at the age of 84.

 

Born in Long Island City, NY and raised in Belle Harbor, NY he had moved to Denville, NJ in 1979.

 

Joe proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps in the late 1950’s.

He then went on to graduate from St. John’s University.  He was an entrepreneur, owning a number companies such as a Taxi business in NY, an Ice Cream Shop, and a Pet Sitting business.  He also worked in retail, as well as the paper and printing industries, retiring from Sears in Rockaway, NJ in 2014.

 

He loved to garden, especially his vegetable garden. He also loved being in the outdoors, canoeing and camping, and he loved beer, especially Yuengling Lager.  Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Mary’s Church in Denville, NJ.

 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Yolanda (Vosilla) Beattie of Denville, NJ.

He is also survived by his loving children Sarah Beattie and Paul Redpath of Silverthorne, CO, and Matthew and his wife Daniela Beattie of Boonton, NJ.  His cherished granddaughters Gracie and Natalia Beattie also survive him as well as his loving sister

Ronnie Aiken of La Crescenta, CA and his cousin Stephanie Benoric of New York, NY.

 

A memorial visitation will take place on Friday February 16, 2024, from 4:00PM to 5:30PM followed by a memorial funeral service starting at 5:30PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com.
