To the Imhoff Family, I am so sorry to hear about Reverend Imhoff. I am originally from Wharton and he was our reverend while I grew up there. There are very fond memories of going to St Johns Methodist Church, from going to church and Sunday school to choir to playing baseball in the church yard, to us kids icing the church steps for sleigh riding down them.
As kids we would come and shovel your big sidewalk when you lived in the that big corner house, and then Mrs Imhoff would serve us hot chocolate. We were very blessed to have him in our lives back then, he left a huge impact on us. He christened all 7 of us at one time, the church was packed that day, but he could always pack people in there.
Then when my youngest sister was getting married and she picked the Denville Methodist Church we were so delighted to hear that he was the minister there. Our youngest sister out of 7 of us was not in Sunday school, so she finally got the chance to meet him! My mom was so happy. He married my brother in Wharton (the only boy)and then he youngest.
We pray you cherish yours and our beautiful memories of such a great man.
May you Rest In Peace Reverend Imhoff and thank you for putting up with all of us kids growing up in Wharton.

Dear Edith, Melissa, Adrienne and all of George's loved ones, I have such fond memories of George as a friend and a mentor. We worked together at Morristown UMC, my first appointment, and he was a wonderful support during those early learning days of ministry! A couple of years later, he invited me to share in ministry with him at Denville Community Church, where I continued to learn from his wisdom, humor and friendship. I appreciate that our families were able to spend time together both in NJ and at The Hideout. All of these shared times fostered my deep, abiding appreciation for George's approach to ministry and to life. His good humor helped me lighten up when things at the church or in life were challenging, and his strong leadership skills and wisdom showed me how one carries out faithful, effective ministry. I have missed him as a colleague and a friend, and send my loving wishes to all of you who have been touched by his love.

Thank you for your beautiful tribute, Shirley! Dad greatly enjoyed his days in ministry with you and all of us have cherished your friendship over many years. When I read him your last letter and enclosure, his face lit up and he smiled. We are so grateful for your kind words and remembrances of him.

Two words come to mind when I think of Rev. Imhoff....warmth and kindness. So approachable, so patient, so understanding...how fortunate all of us are to have known him.

George made me feel welcome when I first visited DCC. That turned into over 20 years at DCC. Most were with George. He was kind enough to officiate at both of my in-laws passing, and was an all around likable and sincere person.
I know many people at DCC feel as I do.
God bless Edith and her family as they mourn the loss of a truly wonderful person.

I had the honor and privilege of serving at DCC with George for nearly a decade.. He taught me a great deal by simply watching and listening as he pastored the congregation and community. George was a fabulous storyteller and encourager. He was a kind and gentle soul who expressed God’s love with grace and humor. He shaped me into a better pastor. His love and admiration for Edith, Melissa and Adrienne was constant and inspiring. Good job faithful servant, husband, dad, grandpa and pastor!
