Obituary of Donald Ebden Zink

Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Donald “Don” Zink, who passed away in his home in Rockaway on October 5th, 2023. This intelligent and caring man will be deeply missed.

Donald Ebden Zink grew up in Orange, NJ. He attended the Cleveland Street Grammar School and then graduated to West Orange High School. After high school he attended Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ and then enlisted in the United States Air Force and completed his basic training in Texas where he was later stationed in Peru, Indiana.

After his enlistment in the U.S. Air Force, he attended Emery Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida to study air craft mechanics. After his graduation from Emery Riddle, he acquired a full-time mechanic's position for Delta Air Lines in Newark, NJ. While working at Delta, Donald met his soulmate and the love of his life, Deidra Dembia. They were wed on June 4, 2006 and as they say, the rest in history. Later in his career at Delta Air Lines he became an Air Craft Maintenance Supervisor with a crew of seven (7) mechanics. He provided his professional services to Delta Air Lines for thirty-seven (37) years before his retirement.

His legacy will live on forever in the hearts of his beloved wife of 17 years, Deidra; and many other loving family members.

A visitation for Don is scheduled for Wednesday, October 11th from 3 to 7 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, October 12th at 10 AM at St. Cecilia Church, 90 Church Street, Rockaway, with a graveside service to follow at St. Cecilia Cemetery, Academy Street, Rockaway. Please continue to share the memories he has left us by leaving a condolence, lighting a candle, or sharing your favorite memory of him here.
