Obituary of Mary Ann Kelley
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ann Kelley, who passed away on August 31st, 2023, in Johns Creek, Georgia. She had shared 83 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, unwavering faith, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.
Mary Ann was born in March of 1940 in West New York, New Jersey to the late Herman and Anna Mehlig. She was raised there alongside her sisters, Elaine and Dolores, before the family moved to the Hibernia section of Rockaway in 1955. Mary Ann graduated in the class of 1957 from Morris Hills High School. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Aristo Aluminum in Lake Hopatcong for many years before purchasing the company. She later shared a partnership in the business with her son, Michael. Mary Ann was very active in her community. She was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Telemark. There she faithfully served as Sunday School Superintendent, Church Council Officer, taught confirmation class, and volunteered for many other activities and events for over 30 years. She raised her children in the Marcella section of Rockaway and was always very present in their lives. She was a Den Mother, loved to play ball, and even attended a rock concert or two. She found joy in spending time with her grandchildren and watching her beloved Yankees or Rangers. She truly was a remarkable woman, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her.
Although her passing brings us sorrow, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited in Heaven with those who passed before her, her husband, Patrick Kelley, her parents, and her sister, Dolores. We now look to those she leaves behind to continue her legacy. Her survivors include her loving children, Samuel E. Hon III (Lynne), Michael Hon (Donna), Denise Yodice (Jim); her cherished grandchildren, Christopher Abrahamsen, Ryan Hon (Kelly), Alyssa Hon (Joseph), Pamela Hon, Michael Hon Jr., her treasured great-grandchild, Theodore Hon; her caring sister, Elaine Capolon (Carl); step-grandchildren James (Lauren and daughter Fiona), Jaclyn (Doug and son Grant); and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Please continue to keep her loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
Graveside Service for family and close friends will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 15th at Locust Hill Cemetery, 168 N. Sussex Street, Dover, NJ. Memorial Donations are being accepted in her memory to Wounded Warrior Project or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center by way of www.inmemof.org. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Mary Ann here to continue to celebrate her life and let her light shine.
