Obituary of Patricia Rose Manton
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Patricia Rose Manton on August 20, 2023. Patti was a longtime resident of Rockaway, NJ and more recently of Parsippany, NJ.
Patti was born in Jersey City to Margaret and the late Dominic Garofalo. She was the oldest of two brothers and three sisters. She enjoyed growing up in River Edge, NJ where she was graduated from St. Peter the Apostle school (1972) and River Dell Senior High School (1976). She attended William Patterson College.
Wife of the late Terrence Manton and loving, adoring mother to son Daniel and the late infant son Ryan. They lived in Rockaway where Patti enjoyed a full life of work, charity, and community service.
Patti was a nurturing child care provider at Pro Fitness, Dover and Light Bridge Academy, Mountain Lakes before retiring in late 2022. Patti was beloved by all the children under her care. She made sure each child was well cared and attended for, and shown love.
Patti was very involved with the Faith Formation Ministry at St. Clement Church, Rockaway, teaching many grades of religious education. She dedicated most of her tenure to the Confirmation Candidates, attending retreats and guiding the students on their spiritual journey. Patti was also an active member of the GFWC Woman’s Club of the Denville/Rockaway area, where she held many positions within the club; most recently as the Fundraising Chairwoman.
Patti was a beautiful soul who had a radiant smile and contagious laugh and always left people feeling better after being in her presence. She most recently announced, and celebrated with great excitement, the engagement of Daniel to Lindsay Hesock, who are residing in Randolph, NJ.
Patti is now reunited in heaven with her husband Terry and infant son Ryan, along with her father Dominic Garofalo, David and Helen Manton and Eileen Garofalo; and is survived by her son Daniel (Lindsay), mother Margaret, brothers Gregg (LeElla) and Douglas (Agatha), sisters JoAnn (Bruce) and Diane, brothers-in-law Chris (Lucy) and Greg (Leslie), and sister-in-law Vicki (Carl), along with many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, August 25th from 4 – 8 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 26th at 11 am at St Clement Pope & Martyr Roman Catholic Church, 154 Mt Pleasant Ave, Dover, NJ 07801.
