Dan and I were both in second squad, 4th platoon, 1452 TC during the 2004-2005 Iraq deployment. He was a terrific NCO and a wonderful person. I had not seen him since we returned almost 20 years ago and I only recently found out that he passed away. I'm posting a picture of Dan and his friend and co-driver Bill Blahut (whom we sadly lost to cancer in 2005). My sincerest condolences to Dan's family.

I was Daniel's squad leader in Iraq,SFC Gardner, the last few months there we operated the same Het together. Sorry this is so late I just now found out, he was a good man and friend, hard to believe he is gone so young.
Salute my brother

I served with Sergeant Dan in the National Guard in the Dover armory and then in Iraq in 2004-2005. Dan was a great guy, always positive and willing to give a hand. Dan did a great job driving the Heavy Equipment Trucks hauling tanks, howitzers and many other heavy loads in the combat zone. He was partnered there with Bill Blahut and they made a great team. Sadly Bill passed away when we returned from Iraq. Hopefully Dan and Bill are reunited in the arms of the Lord. Lucas Nooter US Army retired
My condolences to the family

Dan
Enjoyed working with you. Going to miss you. You were always there to lend a hand. Maybe forgot to put the gas cap back on here and there but know how hard you worked with all those busses among other things. Always Appreciated. You have a big heart and hope you can now rest peacefully.
Love,
Rosemary Fitzsimmons

Dan was the nicest, kindest and funniest man. Between his time in the Army, he was always dedicated to his family, friends and community. Some pretty fun memories of him. He will be missed by all who knew him. Sending prayers and love to Beth and children and Dan’s extended family. May he rest in peace.
