Obituary of David John Waverczak
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of David Waverczak, who passed away on April 6, 2023. He fought a long and courageous battle with his health for many years.
He was born December 29, 1954 to Evelyn and John Waverczak in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. His family later moved to Morristown, where he grew up with his older sister Janet. David graduated from Seton Hall University in 1980 with a degree in communications. He enjoyed many jobs growing up, including having a paper route, driving a school bus, and selling advertising at WMMR Radio Station. He began working for the New England Financial Group, now Mass Mutual’s Creative Financial Group, in 1992, where he worked until semi retiring this year. He met some amazing people and clients and truly loved helping small businesses. He met the love of his life Jennifer, in 1983, through mutual friends, and they married in 1987. They moved to Denville, NJ in 1989 and welcomed their first child, Anna, in 1993 and their second child, Matthew, in 1996. David loved his family so deeply and loved spending time with them. Some of their favorite things to do together were playing mini golf, vacations to Cape Cod, and day trips to botanical gardens, sculpture gardens and museums. At home he loved playing board games and watching his son play video games, especially the Last Of Us. He recently loved watching the Last of Us series with his son and wife and made it a special weekly event. He loved supporting his children in anything they did and never missed a concert, play or event. Jennifer and his children will always remember him as a loving husband and devoted father.
David is survived by his wife Jennifer Waverczak, his two children Anna and Matthew Waverczak, his sister Janet Dzwinczyk, and his loving cat Finn. David is predeceased by his father John Waverczak and his mother Evelyn Waverczak, née Szeg.
If you’d like to carry on David’s legacy in your own way, in lieu of flowers please consider making a memorial donation to Camp Nejeda; a special camp in NJ founded to foster independence and confidence for children with Diabetes. This camp is special to the Waverczak family as David’s daughter worked with them for her Girl Scout Gold award in honor of her Dad and he loved attending the weekend retreats for Adults with his friends from his Diabetic pump support group.
