Obituary of Elizabeth Ball Maginness
Elizabeth Ball Maginness passed away peacefully in her home on March 8, 2023 in Denville, NJ at the age of 104. Elizabeth was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Elizabeth was born in Passaic, NJ but spent most of her life either traveling or in Morris County. She was a true Jersey Girl through and through. Elizabeth was often referred to as Liz by friends and family. Though her 104 years spent here she sure accomplished a lot. Liz was a one-of-a-kind strong woman. She survived all through the Great Depression, many recessions,The Prohibition, many presidents, World War 2, Vietnam War, Iraq War, September 11 attacks, and far too many more to write about. Throughout her beautiful life she was lucky enough to meet her forever best friend early on in High School, George Maginness. They were high school sweethearts that married in 1942 and accomplished over 67 years of marriage. The two of them did everything together. They golfed, traveled, loved many animals, played Bridge, created a family, and a lifetime of cherished memories.
Liz loved traveling and seeing the world. She been everywhere from Puerto Rico, Nashville, to all the way to China. Liz has always had a love for the Chinese culture and art. Many of the families’ fondest memories together began on the beach in Nantucket. Liz loved the beach, especially at their home in Florida during the winter season. Then they would fly back to New Jersey for the Summer. When in NJ they were active members of Rockaway Country Club since 1959, as well as the PTO Today events and meetings. Then, when they were in Florida, they became members of the Bonita Bay Club. Once Liz started to slow down on traveling you would either find her playing Bridge or staying up late watching the late news.
Elizabeth`s memory will live on forever through her loving son Craig Maginness and Daughter in Law Ellen. As well as her granddaughters, Alison, and Aryanna. She is predeceased by her husband George Maginness, her son Robert Maginness, and her sister Roberta.
All services for Liz will be private. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Liz here to continue to celebrate the special life she bestowed upon us.
