Obituary of Nicholas J. Stecky
Nicholas J. “Nick” Stecky passed away on February 2nd, 2023 at his retirement home in Morris Plains, New Jersey. He lived a full life to the age of 74, and will be remembered always.
Nick was born to Nicholas and Adrien Stecky on July 3rd, 1948 in Newark, New Jersey, and was raised alongside his siblings, Daniel and Maureen. Once Nick was older, he decided to continue his education past high school and attended both Rutgers University and New Jersey Institute of Technology. He eventually earned his Master’s degree in engineering, which he used during his time working at Picatinny Arsenal. Somewhere along the way, Nick met the love of his life, Ranka, and the two were married in 1974.
When he wasn’t working, Nick loved to do the things that made him happy. He spent his time fishing, taking trips down the shore with his wife, and indulging his love of aeronautics by building and flying model airplanes and flying kites. Nick also served on the town council of Denville for a short time as his intelligence and knowledge in politics made him a great asset.
While his passing brings us great sadness, we take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his love, Ranka, and his sister, Maureen, in paradise. His memory lives on through the family he leaves behind; his brother, Daniel Stecky, his niece, Lisa Newland (Andy), his nephew, Marko Savkovich (Vesna Pandurov), and his grand-nephews, Ben and Lucas. Also, niece and nephew, Ljiljana Bejanović and Branko Vuyevic and their families.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11th from 1 - 4 pm with Funeral Service beginning at 3:30 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Nick's memory to the Parkinson's Foundation by way of www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Nick here to continue to celebrate his incredible life.
