We will remember Mabel with a tender heart. She was a loving, caring and complimentary lady who was always impeccably dressed. We will treasure fond memories of all the Cuban get-togethers with all the delicious Cuban food (much of which I have learned to cook through Mabel's dear friend, Maria). When I make those Cuban dishes, it always brings me back to those parties, the camaraderie and the dancing! I too remember those pajama parties that Mabel and Maria used to have and they loved watching their novellas together! Heaven has gained another angel and I have no doubt that she was greeted my her dear husband, Tony, and all of her other family and friends who have been waiting for her and maybe ... just maybe ... Mabel and Maria are enjoying their pajama parties again! Praying that all the beautiful memories and the love you shared with this special lady will bring you both peace and comfort in the days to come. Mabel, if you can see this, thank you for the memories. You and all of my Cubans helped to mold me into the person I have become. You all made this Irish girl feel like a part of your families. Please give a big group hug to all of our loved ones in heaven.
Love,
Oscar and Kathie

Mabel,
I remember how we visited you in Cuba. My mother, Mariita, how you called her, was one of your great friends. When we had to flee Cuba, you and Tony took me in until mom and dad came for me. I remember those days. That is when you became my second mom. Maria and Humberto (Hermano Mayor) as you called him, moved to Somerville. During those years we saw each other a lot with the love you always had for us. Sometimes you stayed over for a “pajama party” at Humberto and Maria’s house. I will always remember those times with you. I am sure you are reunited with your love, Tony, also with Maria and Humberto. Elisa and Anthony, I am very sorry for your loss, but you took care of Mabel throughout her long and beautiful life, full of love for all.
PS: Mabel please hug mom and dad for me.

Our family has so many wonderful memories of Mabel. When I think of her, I picture her dressed impeccably, smiling and chatting away! She was so outgoing, happy, caring and loving toward all of us! Anthony and Mabel were such a beautiful and happy couple and leave behind a wonderful family and legacy. I wish we were able to be there to show our support, but please know you are in our thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult time. May she rest in sweet peace knowing how much she was loved and may all your beautiful memories help to ease your pain somewhat xoxo

Q: What 3 words best describe Mabel and why?
A: Loving, considerate, and sociable are three words that come to mind when I think of my wonderful cousin Mabel. I never heard her say an unkind word about anyone. She was loving to family and friends, always showing consideration for the feelings of others. Being such a sociable and outgoing person, she was easy to get to know shortly after moving to NJ. Her desire, and Elisa's, to embrace our family connection, facilitated our outings and get-togethers.
Mabel fondly remembered my father from her youth and he shared that she was a beauty inside and out. She always asked about my husband and son if they weren't accompanying us--even sending her love to them in her last days. What a blessing Mabel was in my life. I will treasure her memory always as the good soul she was and will continue to be.
