Obituary of Marjorie Smith Torres
Marjorie S. Torres passed away peacefully on Thursday December 29, 2022, at the age of 93.
Marjorie was born and raised in Manhattan, NY. In 1950, after marrying the love of her life, Joseph, the couple moved to Massachusetts. In 1954 they moved to Westbury, NY and it was there in their home on Fawn Lane that they started and raised their family. Marjorie and Joseph lived in Westbury for many years and then moved to Belvidere, NJ in 2000. Marjorie moved to Montville, NJ in August 2022.
Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Joseph R. Torres in 2007.
Marjorie was totally devoted to her family: her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as her mother and sisters. Marjorie enjoyed traveling and always wanted to spend time surrounded by her family and friends. This was what mattered most in life to her: her love and dedication to her family was her calling.
Marjorie is survived by her children: Ralph E. and his wife Laurie Torres of Pleasant Hill, CA, Brenda and her husband Michael Gleason of Morris Plains, NJ and Nancy and her husband Thomas Gruter of Lindenhurst, NY. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Justin and his wife Melissa Torres, Alyssa Torres, Melanie Torres and her fiancé Nathan Dunn, Alexandra Gleason, Julianna Gleason, and Daniel T. Gruter and his fiancé Michelle Sumner. Marjorie has two great grandchildren, Liam and Beckett Torres as well as two sisters: Maureen and her husband Ronald Richter of PA and Marilyn and her husband Ralph Bauer of FL; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday January 14, 2023 from 9:00AM to 10:30AM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave. Denville NJ 07834 www.normandean.com. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at Church of the Saviour 155 Morris Avenue Denville, NJ 07834. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester, NJ.

Memorial Donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
