Obituary of Evelyn K. Klaus
Evelyn Catherine Klaus passed away peacefully in the comfort of Merry Heart Healthcare Center in Succasunna on Saturday, December 24, 2022. She had shared 80 years of love, wisdom, and laughter with friends and family.
Born and raised in Jersey City to the late George and Sophie Klaus, she was one of two daughters to bless their household. After graduating from Parsippany High School, Evelyn went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from Newark State College, now Kean University, in 1963. She was an avid reader and a hard and dedicated worker, having worked for many years at the Caldwell and Morris County Library as a Librarian before retiring. She was smart, kind, independent, and humble. Always looking her best, most likely in a stylish hat, Evelyn was classy, simple, and structured. She was a loyal member to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Rockaway for many years which provided not just spiritual comfort, but lifelong, genuine friendships. At church, she was a member of the Bell Choir and the Altar Guild and she was also a member of the College Club of Dover. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved family; her Mom, Sophie, Dad, George, and sister, Nancy.
She leaves only joyful memories to her close friends, Gretel Erickson, Kathy & John Fiend, and Diane Flanagan-Keen; and many more church family and friends.
Public Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30th from 10 – 11 am at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Funeral Service will begin at 11 am and will be followed by burial at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Evelyn here to continue to celebrate her incredible life.
