Obituary of Clare F. Miller
Clare F. Miller passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, August 11, 2022 in the comfort of her home at The Oaks in Denville. She had shared 81 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.
Born and raised in Newark to the late Albert and Frances Martens, she was one of three daughters to bless their household. After graduating from High School, she attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Orange. Her life as a Registered Nurse began immediately and continued throughout her life until 2009, when Clare officially retired. During her impressive career she worked at a few facilities, most notably Morristown Medical Center and NJ Eastern Star Home in Bridgewater, where she retired from. Clare was born to be a caregiver, which was evident in how she lived her life. She thrived as a geriatric nurse and excelled even more so when it came to taking care of her family.
Clare married the love of her life and her best friend, Frederick Miller, on April 27, 1963. Together they settled into Bridgewater to raise a family of their own. Fred and Clare worked very hard to support their children; their kids wanted for nothing and they were so proud to be able to send five children to catholic school. In order to make this all possible, Clare was a big coupon clipper, in addition to being a hard worker. A devout Catholic, Clare was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception in Somerville, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She made sure to have a homecooked meal on the table every night for her family and their friends, and always said her prayers prior to eating. Her home was always warm and inviting and filled with love and animals. They always had four-legged babies in the house, from bunnies to mice to fish, especially the many dogs they had over the years, all of whom were considered family members. In 2019, Clare and Fred relocated to the Oaks at Denville and she couldn’t have been happier. She loved her new Denville friends and the community. While in Denville she was a member of St. Mary’s Church. Her entire life, she was proud of her Irish heritage. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, and dog sitting, aka having slumber parties with her Grand Pups! To say that she will be sorely missed is an understatement. The next time you find yourself writing a list to go shopping or plan your week, please think of Clare and know that she is smiling!
Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Fred, her parents, and her sister, Margaret Salamone.
Left to continue her legacy is her adored children, Karen (William) Cole, Debbie (Joseph) Milora, Paul (Vivan Borruso) Miller, Jennifer (Tom) Weidemann, and Elizabeth (Rob Senska) Miller; her cherished grandchildren, Robert (Sarah Robison) Miller, Kelsey (Steph Fortunat) Davis, Erica (Mike Holodinski) Miller, Vincent Milora, and Kyle Weidemann; her loving sister, Rita Martens; her loyal grandpups, Stanley, Adelaide, Jake, and Cupid; her faithful great-grandpups, Brooklyn and Griselda; and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Public Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 14th from 1 – 4 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 15th at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Clare's memory to the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Morristown Medical Center, 100 Madison Avenue, Morristown, NJ 07960. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Clare here to continue to celebrate the incredible life she bestowed upon us.
