Obituary of Joyce B. Corkey

Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joyce B. Corkey passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover. She had shared 80 years of unconditional love, infectious charisma, pure elegance, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Born and raised in Hackensack to the late Charles and Marjorie Corkey, she was one of four daughters to bless their household. Joyce broke the mold when she was born; she was smart, wholesome, compassionate, strong, hospitable, courageous, and the most beautiful woman inside and out. Born to be Mom, her mission in life was to take care of her family. She worked very hard as a single Mom, and her kids wanted for nothing. She kept a clean house and had a delicious homemade meal on the table every night, all while raising exceptional human beings and working a full-time job. She earned her GED and even took night classes in business and medical billing to better her career and be able to provide more for her children. All of this was done while always looking her best with her special sophisticated flare. She was a powerhouse; a true inspiration. She retired in 2020 after 26 years as a Medical Biller for Falk Surgical Supply in Rockaway.

Joyce was very proud of her Irish heritage. She was a talented artist. Most importantly, she lived her life the way she wanted. She went to the beat of her own drum. She was just the right amount of sugar and spice. Above all, she was our Matriarch. She will forever be treasured in our hearts and her legacy will live on for generations to come. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that we have the greatest Guardian Angel watching out for us from above.

She leaves only joyful memories to her treasured children, Sherry and Robert R. Addimando of Flanders and Curt and Deborah Rothenberg of Ontario, Canada; her cherished grandchildren; Robert R. Addimando, Jr. and his partner Anastasia McAllister, Alyssa M. Addimando and her fiancé Jonathan Vitale, Nisha St. Louis Rothenberg, Alexis Maugeri Rothenberg, Sarina Rothenberg, Jacob Rothenberg, Joseph Rothenberg, Tzitorah Rothenberg, and Aaron Rothenberg; her caring sisters, Judy Devine, Nancy Halm, and Priscilla Jane Kohler; her best friend and grandpup, Stella; and many dear extended family and friends.
