Q: What 3 words best describe Marlene and why?
A: Marlene was a very kind and compassionate woman. I spoke with her 2x a week for three years. She never charged me a copay. She would share stories about her own life that made me think about my own. I met some very unkind therapists who should have chosen a different field. We both agreed on that. I knew she was I’ll but I really didn’t know how bad. The day she died around 8 months ago I cried twice a day for two months. She always made me feel special and cared about. It’s still very hurtful I met two therapists since then and I would not work with them. I know she would want me to find happiness and peace. I have lit candles for her beautiful soul.

We were Marlene's tenants for the past 15 years. She was funny, quirky and always kind. She loved our dogs as much as we did and was so happy for us when our son was born. She was absolutely one of a kind and will be very missed.

My deepest sympathies go out to you as we celebrate the life of Dear Marlene. Almost three years ago, I was desperate to find a therapist and when I found her picture on-line I knew she was a kind-hearted soul. I will always remember her sweet nature, easy giggle and her ability to help me recover from a difficult time in my life. Marlene will be in my heart forever and I hope her legacy continues to bring you strength and peace.
Best always,
K Rogers

My heartfelt and deepest condolences to her family. Marlene and I met at a pizzeria three years ago in Cedar Grove. I felt an instant connection with her and I later found out that we had several things in common. She was a compassionate and kindhearted woman who made me feel very special. I consider myself very blessed and fortunate to have known her. I am very saddened by this unexpected loss. My only solace is that I know that there is an angel in heaven watching over us and we will be reunited in heaven one day.
Fondly, Debra

Marlene was a great woman. In January 2021 we were looking for a therapist for our 11 year old daughter. She came highly recommended. Our daughter Molly formed an instant bond with Marlene. My favorite memory was the last time Molly had a session with Marlene, May 6. I brought Molly to her usual Friday 5pm in person session with Marlene and took my younger daughter out for a walk around Montclair. About 20 minutes in, Molly called me and said “Mom come back- I think we need to end our session early”. I walked back and it turned out that Marlene had forgotten the key to her office. We sat and brainstormed for a bit. Molly and Marlene said they tried to pick the lock to her office using credit cards- but to no avail. Since it was late on a Friday evening, we didn’t know what to do. Many of the other offices were vacant. My younger daughter took one of my credit cards- and was able to pick the lock to another empty office! Marlene didn’t want to give up and I’m so thankful she was willing to stay for another hour just to be able to give Molly her full session.
She will be dearly missed in our family and our thoughts and prayers go out to all of her family and friends, especially her son Michael- who she mentioned to Molly a lot and told her about doing fencing with him when he was younger because she needed a fencing partner.
