Obituary of Salvatore Saputo
Salvatore Saputo passed away at his home in Rockaway Twp., NJ on April 5, 2022,
at the age of 92.
Born in Palermo, Sicily he came to the United States in 1955 and lived in Hoboken before moving to Mt. Olive where he raised his family until moving to Rockaway Township, NJ 19 years ago.
He worked for many years at M&M Mars in Hackettstown before retiring in 1985.
In his spare time, he loved to cultivate his vegetable gardens, he also enjoyed entertaining friends and family. As an avid lover of wildlife, he enjoyed watching Animal Planet and the Discovery channels, and his favorite sporting event to watch was boxing. Sal spent many summers visiting his hometown in Sicily enjoying friends and family.
Salvatore was predeceased by his siblings Giacamo Saputo and Rosalia (nee Saputo) Biundo.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Carolina (nee Quagliana) Saputo of Rockaway Twp., by his loving son Russ and his wife Aileen (nee McGinley) Saputo of Byram, and his adoring grandchildren Alyssa Saputo of Morristown, Amara Saputo of Byram and Sal Saputo also of Byram, NJ. He is also survived by his brother Rocco and Joan Rea of Manasquan, NJ as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com.
A Liturgy of Christian Mass will be held on Monday, April 11, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church 15 Myers Avenue Denville, NJ 07834. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum in North Arlington, NJ.
