My condolences to Artie, Andrew and the Baggot sisters.
Throughout grammar school in the early 60’s, I spent hour after hours, season after season, year after years at 18 Fernwood Trail, just doing what kids did back then. Mrs. Baggot should be a saint. RIP.

My godmother, Aunt Alvina, has joined her good friend, my mom, Norma, in heaven. A friendship that lasted for over 80 years and so heartwarming. They knew everything about each other. They never judged…just listened. They were part of the “Lake Girls,” as my mom would say. “Lake” being Indian Lake. My mom was considered a “Lake Girl” though she hadn’t lived in Indian Lake since the 60’s. When my mom visited my house, she was so excited to go out with the “Lake Girls.” In the early years, they were a bunch of teenagers who summered at the lake. Then there were the married couples and this developed into an endearing friendship that spanned eighty years.
They shared experiences of raising families, traveling, losing family members, aches and pains, and …no longer driving. They had each other to talk to, because each of them had the same issues. Distance never kept them apart. There was always the telephone. Sadly, many now have departed.
As my godmother, Aunt Alvina, never missed sending me a card for 70 birthdays. For my 60th, she gave me a beautiful necklace, which I treasure. I went to visit a couple weeks ago and she was having some walking issues and having a shortness of breath.
I am so sad that Aunt Alvina is gone but I am happy because she is with her loved ones, including my mom… that have gone before her and, of course, her beloved…”Lake Girls.”
