Obituary of Andrew Jacko
Andrew “Andy” Jacko passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Monday, November 22, 2021 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville. He had shared 82 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and priceless memories with family and friends.
Born and raised in New York City to the late Andrew and Anna Jacko, Andy was one of three children to bless their household. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. He married his soulmate and best friend Marianne and together they traveled this rollercoaster called life. They began their family in New York City before finding their first home in Bloomingdale where they raised their three children. Andy made a successful career for himself in the news and media industry working for the NY Daily News and the NY Times before retiring. After retirement, Marianne and Andy relocated to Rockaway.
Andy was a hard and dedicated worker and always provided for his family. They enjoyed vacationing especially to the Western United States. He was humble, kind, and considerate, always putting others wants, needs, and feelings above his own; he was truly selfless, a rare trait in the world today. He enjoyed learning new things on the computer and absolutely loved listening to music and dancing with his wife. Above all else, his family was his priority. Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing he is safe in Heaven, watching out for us from above, and is now reunited with his parents and sister Eleanor Smith.
He leaves only joyful memories to his beloved wife, Marianne; his loving children, Joseph and his wife Patricia of Kinnelon, NJ, John and his wife Dana of Sedona, AZ, and Marianne and her husband Bob of Riverdale, NJ; his cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer, Sierra, Brooke, Dominique, and Nicholas; his caring twin sister, Catherine; and dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Public Visitation will be held on Friday, November 26th from 3 – 7 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 27th at 10 am at St Clement Pope & Martyr Roman Catholic Church, 154 Mt Pleasant Ave, Dover, NJ 07801. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Memorial Donations are being accepted by way of www.inmemof.org to the American Heart Association. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, or share your favorite memory of Andy here to continue to celebrate the incredible life he endowed to us.
