Obituary of Donald Ambrose Welsch
Donald Welsch went to be with the lord on Sunday, August 22, 2021. When he passed, he was with his loving family. Donald fought valiantly a 19 year battle with cancer. Donald attended Sacred Heart School in Dover and graduated in 1959. He graduated from Dover High School in 1963. He then attended Minnesota State University at Mankato where he received his B.A. in Speech Therapy and a Teacher of the Handicapped certification. He then attended Seton Hall University, graduating with a M.A. in Special Education. Donald continued to pursue his education by attending Keane University and earning a certification as a Speech Language Specialist.
He worked as a teacher of the handicap in Newark from 1963-1979. Donald worked as a Speech Language Specialist at Essex County Vocational Technical School for 27 years. He also taught English as a Second Language through Essex County Votech, and was a tutor for the Morris Hills/ Morris Knolls School District. He retired in 2015. Teaching was Donald’s passion, and it saddened him to have to retire. He especially enjoyed working with his ESL students.
Donald leaves behind his loving wife, Vita Welsch (Errico) of more than 50 years. Donald leaves behind his beloved four children. He leaves behind his daughter, Deanna Austin and her husband, Mike Austin. His daughter Christina Lopez and her husband Arty Lopez. His son, Jason Donald Welsch. His daughter, Catherine Law and her husband, Run Law. His grandchildren, Donald Kary, Christian Kary, Matthew Autsin, Ariana Lopez, Gabriela Lopez, Sophia Lopez, Josephine Law, and Kaiden Ambrose Law.
Public Visitation will be held on Monday, August 30th from 5 - 8 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Funeral Service will take place at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 31st at 10 am. Please arrive by 9:30 am. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Gazebo in East Hanover, NJ.
