I am so very saddened to learn of Danny's passing. We were across the street neighbors on Cutter Drive for many years, and the Harris and Capawana families forged many friendships. I remember Danny in particular while I was in college and he was a teenager; he was always nice and respectful, and carried a memorable, hearty laugh. We last exchanged communication a few years ago and caught up on things, including the families. I'm glad we did. My wife Mindy and I send our deep and heartfelt condolences to Mr. and Mrs. Harris, Cheryl, and Bill, as well as to Beth and her family.

Hi, my name is Tricia Bertolino, I was friends with Danny when I was in middle/high school, we used to roam around the neighborhood playing man hunt, walk up town, ride bikes and just hang out together with our group of friends, I have fond memories of him and he will truly be missed

I’m Dan’s wife Beth.
I would like to add some aspects of this obit that are important. Dan was very close to his Mother and Father in-laws and his brother in-laws: Angela LaPorte, Paul LaPorte (predeceased), Gregory LaPorte (Brooke) and Luke LaPorte.
For the past 13-14 years Dan would spend every Christmas with his in-laws. We were all very close and had a special bond. Dan was especially fond of his Father in-law Paul, whom he talked about all the time.
Dan and his in-laws shared many special moments and learned many beautiful things from each other.
My family had a profound impact on Dan’s life and helped Dan and I during many times in our lives.
Dan and I were United in marriage on July 27, 2013 after several years of courtship. We had an unconditional love for each other.
Dan also had several meaningful friendships in which were very important to him in his life.
I am having a private celebration of life for Dan for just immediate family and close friends later on this year.
I also have donations set up in Dan’s honor:
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following organizations below.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or go to www.stjude.org.
National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA), 777 6th Street NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC, 20001-3723 or go to www.npca.org or donate by phone at 1-800-628-7275.
The original obituary online that I wrote with our funeral home in upstate NY shares full details as to the aspects of whom Dan was.
I miss Dan and know that this passing is difficult for everyone.

To my beloved cousin, Danny ~
You have always been a shining star on our family tree, and we will all miss you. I truly take comfort in believing we will meet again and that you are preparing the festivities as we each arrive. With Grandma and Kenny at your side (along with so many others gone too soon), I hope you know how you enriched our lives. The Harris-Beyer-Epple families have lost a blessed branch from its tree. Until we meet again, save me some Bonic and feel my love sent your way.
All My Love,
Cousin Col

I wish all the best for Dan’s family in these times of sorrow. I've known Dan for several years since we worked together at Allura Solar. We hit it off well as we both had an academic history and have a passion for installing solar power that is changing the world. We worked side by side and I trusted Dan with my life on several live electrical projects and several trips climbing the rock cliffs at Minnewaska State Park. Together we spent several months studying to pass the NABCEP certification the first time. I relied on Dan’s wealth of electrical knowledge over the years on dozens of projects to sometimes save the day.
One day on a project, I’ll always remember when Dan said to me, “ Do it right, so you can sleep at night”.
When NRG shut down the Albany, NY facility that Dan managed, Dan reached out to me out of concern for his crew members. I was able to interview and hire his best crew leaders for field installer positions where I worked, and we planned it out so the crew never missed a day of work. I'll never forget the look on the crews faces when Dan then stopped by their first day on the job to surprise them. He was such a great person and I will miss him. A few weeks ago after we were together, he sent me this heartfelt gift that said, “ Good friends are like stars, You don’t always see them, but you know they’re always there”
