I am deeply saddened to hear about Uncle Brett's recent passing. He was always very caring and made sure others were doing well. Although we lived on opposite coasts and only met each other a few times, I will always cherish the times that we shared together. I still remember when I was younger and met with Uncle Brett at Las Vegas. I couldn't play slots or be close the tables and Uncle Brett stayed to the side to play the game of chopsticks with me to keep me company. Throughout my college career, he would occasionally message me to make sure that I was doing well and studying hard. I'm glad that Uncle Brett was able to see me cross the finish line. I am also glad that I was able to visit Uncle Brett a few years ago to enjoy his company in person and witnessed how caring of a family-man he was with the addition of his two daughters that I have never met before in person. The
I will truly miss Uncle Brett's company. Rest easy in heaven and I hope you can enjoy all the spicy beef jerky that you love!

I worked with Brett a number of years ago, first as a worthy adversary, then later as a friend. I knew I had to prepare for battle when I saw him walking sideways down my row with his head tilted to the side. I'm sure that I always lost even though I would never admit it to him.
Many years later, his desk ended up next to mine, that is when I found out what a great person he really was. His love for his family was undeniable. We would have many conversations about family, hockey, fantasy football, the unicorn farm as well as some serious discussions about how to handle work and life situations.
If he considered you a friend, you were a friend to the end. I will miss that look, that sarcastic smile, that zest for life that he had. He was truly one of my favorite people.

Brett and I liked placing little wagers on sporting events from time to time, especially during the Superbowl. One year, Brett was sure that a bet on The Who's Pete Townshend doing under 3 guitar windmills during a performance would be a winner for us.
Much to our chagrin, everyone in the room laughed at us as we watched Pete take the stage of the halftime show and perform something like 10 guitar windmills in a row right at the start.
Brett just laughed it off - His "we will get them next time" positive attitude toward such things is something I learned and admired. He showed me what true unwavering friendship and loyalty looks like, and enriched my life in so many ways with his words and presence.
On another occasion, following a trip he took with his family to Las Vegas touring the local casino exhibits, Brett wrote a detailed synopsis of his assessment of how many mummies or lions he thought he could "beat up" in a battle - I believe it was something like 6 mummies and 2.5 lions, but don't quote me on that.
The laughs and adventures we shared with Brett will live on forever in all of us through our re-telling of these stories to each other and to new friends and family. The time now feels all too brief, yet I am lucky to have met him, forever thankful for his friendship.
I will miss Brett for the rest of my days, but the countless good times we shared will never be forgotten.

Brett,
Thank you for always having my back.
Since high school, you have always been there for me and my family. Thank you for listening as I would complain about work and providing advice. I have truly appreciated that you never judged or made fun of my horrible golf game.
As I remember meeting you in High School I remember sitting in the Cafe, looking at the morning jokes you would share. Talking about comic books, Dungeons & Dragons, going to the movies, or just hanging out.
Words can not express how much I will miss your friendship but I will cherish every day I have had knowing you.
Love you always your Pal
Bob & Keri and the rest of the Twinkies

Besides my family, there is no one that I have known longer than Brett. From our days in high school German class when we would get kicked out for wrestling, (sorry, Mrs. Ball) to camping at my grandfather’s cabin in the Catskills, I made a best friend at 15 years old that I would have my whole life. We visited each other through college, and built new friendships that have lasted time and distance that continue today. We went to the Mets’ playoff games, Wayne Gretzky’s last game, and saw the Rangers win the Stanley Cup together. You know, the important things. We were with each other when we married, saw our families grow with kids, and helped each other through difficult times.
We all know Brett wouldn’t like us being here and making a show of things, but I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the kind of friend he was. Brett was the kind of friend that you could count on, and you didn’t have to ask. He would drive for hours to help you or to just hang out. You’d show up and he’d be there with a stick and a ball playing hockey in the parking lot. And he always, always had your back. As friends, we have countless memories and stories and I know we’ll tell them to each other for years and laugh. And that’s all he would really want.
So, Brett, sorry for getting all sentimental, but I know we all want to thank you for your friendship. You will be missed.
One land, one king.
