Obituary of Sara Ella Alexander

Please share a memory of Sara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sara Ella (Strauss) Alexander of The Villages, Florida passed away on June 16, 2021. Sara was raised in Manhattan on the Upper West Side and lived in Teaneck, Bloomingdale and Rockaway, NJ before spending the last years of her life in “Sunshine and Lollipops Land”, The Villages, Florida. (As she often referred to it)

Sara married her teenage sweetheart, Kenneth Alexander and worked as a secretary before giving birth to her children.  She held many part-time jobs throughout her life where she thrived due to her outgoing, fun, loving, eccentric, vibrant and warm personality.  Some of her favorite jobs were: The Jewelry Exchange, Anchor Casino, Jenny Craig and Chico’s.

Sara loved her family deeply and was truly an incredible grandmother who attended all of her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and recitals.  She had the most hilarious expressions and vocabulary that we will always cherish and remember her for.  Sara lived life to the fullest and never gave a “sugar beans”. There’s no doubt she followed the beat of her own drum.

Sara is preceded in death by her parents, Caroline (Weinberger) Strauss and Emanuel Strauss, her sister Joanne (Strauss) Balton, and brother-in-law William Toby Balton. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Kenneth Alexander, sister-in-law Stephanie (Alexander) Larrison, her daughter, Ellyn (Alexander) Brognara and husband Riccardo Brognara, son Howard Alexander and wife Elisa (Nitti) Alexander, grandchildren Rebecca Alexander, Alessandro Brognara, Eva Nicole Alexander, and Sofia Brognara, nieces and nephews Judy (Balton) Guardiola and family, David Balton and Jonathan Balton and family, and her grand-doggies Rocco and Zoey.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM EST with Funeral Service beginning at 12:30 PM at Normal Dean Home for Services located at 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834. In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Make-A-Wish Foundation by way of www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation.
