I was a friend of Sandra. Loved her beautiful art work. Her beautiful and loving thoughtfulness of other people in her life. She was witty and had an infectious laugh. God will care for her.

Sandy had enough confidence in me to encourage my application for Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Denville Public Schools back in 1994. That single career path adjustment had a lasting and profound effect on my educational and professional career that influences the way I look at the world even to this day. The district had four or five superintendents during my tenure and Sandy was by far the most empathetic and humane. I will always remember her fondly her for her kindness, respect and wisdom. She was a dedicated teacher, administrator and colleague and she made the world a better place.

My best memory of Sandy was the day she hired me for the position in the board office. Little did I know I would spend 28 years and she set me up for my retirement. Sandy shared her life with me to help me as a single mom, encouraged me to go back to school. Sandy had a way of empowering women and especially me. Sandy was nurturing and strong at the same time which is unique! I will remember you always, you are that person that has left a little of you in everyone's heart by your kindness. Rest in peace in the place God has prepared for you.
To her family I am sorry I never met you. Your mom always spoke of her sons that she loved so very much. Life was not always easy but her love in her heart for both of you was apparent.

Many thanks to my Grandma Sandy Danforth for sharing her time and love with me over all these many years. To me she will always be synonymous with tea parties, carved wooden ducks, 1940s music, colorful umbrellas, and endless captivating stories designed to expand a child's imagination. You are missed already.

Kindhearted woman who encouraged me as an educator. Forever grateful. Rest In Peace, Mrs. D… I could never get used to calling her Sandy even though she told me it was okay.

An unbelievably kind and talented individual. I will always consider her as one of my grandparents, because she truly filled that roll by how caring and engaged she was in my life. I have only fond memories of her, and I appreciate all that she did to love and support me over the years. You will be missed, Grandma Sandy.

Engaged. watching, writing lyrics singing in the rain, dancing w/umbrellas with duck heads, turkey feathers from the field, trick or treating & a cabin, family care at births, barnie tape, making efforts for family gatherings~joining the "cousin time", creative storytelling, phonetic words and associations, coffee on the lake deck, NYC matinee theater broadway, birthdays with friends, July 4th fireworks, playground time, puppet shows, photographs with narratives, small personal notes of association, individualized personal cards, postcards, envelopes with articles to think about and discuss, cross country trips via train, planes, and automobiles. Adventures with grandma. Details, such as small salt & pepper shakers, placemats, lived a life with good intentions. loved her library and schools as strength of community, blue morning glories, regular efforts because you loved & were loved deeply. You'll be missed greatly. The hole doesn't fill in, it just softens with time. Thank you for enriching my life and each of your grandchildren's. And as you'd humbly reply "Oh well... " smiling broadly in reflection and a laugh.

Though not related by blood, she was always “Grandma Sandy” to me. In my first week of high school, I was a troubled 14 year old. I had just moved across the country. As my mom traveled to continue the move, Sandy came to take care of me. She cooked meals and showed me empathy during a difficult time in my life. She told me stories about her life as a little girl during the Great Depression. She had a knack for stories. I miss her a lot, but I am grateful for the time we shared. Also, her enthusiasm for museums absolutely infected me. I treasure the memory of shared trips to NYC Smithsonian museums.
