Obituary of Lam Van Danh
Lam Van Danh passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 following a brave two year fight with pancreatic cancer. He shared 60 years of love and faith.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, May 16 from 1pm - 4pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. A Mass of Catholic burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 17 at 10am at St. Cecilia’s Parish at 15 Church St, Rockaway. The burial to follow at St. Cecilia’s Cemetery.
Born in Cà Mau, South Vietnam, Lam immigrated to the US in 1981. He went to school to learn English as he began his journey in a new country, where he met his wife of 35 years, Tý Nguyen. Lam worked hard alongside Tý to give their two daughters a good life and loving home.
Lam was a warm, humble man. He was deeply faithful to the church and helped grow the Vietnamese community at St. Cecilia’s Parish. His daily prayers along with many friends and families prayers helped him through difficult months as we cherished our time together.
Most recently, he worked at the St. Elizabeth Nursery & Montessori School in Parsippany. He was always jolly and loved being around the children—they in turn, loved him. When he wasn't working, he was watching and playing soccer, listening to music or singing, and being a helping hand to his community.
Lam leaves joyful memories to his wife Tý; his daughters Linda and Jennifer; his siblings and their children; Xuan Thi Danh, Than Thanh Nguyen, Huyen Tran, Bao Tran, Chan Chan and Truong Nguyen; and many more relatives and friends of the church community and beyond.
