Obituary of Charlie J Hernando

Charlie Hernando passed peacefully on Monday, May 10, 2021. He shared 80 years of love and faith.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 17 at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Parish 15 Myers Ave., Denville, NJ 07834.  Donations in his memory made be made to the good work of St. Mary’s Church.

Born in Manila, Philippines, Charlie was one of six children to bless the family. As a young man he married and started his family. He adored his children. In 1980 he immigrated to the United States where he settled in Denville and became an active parishioner at Saint Mary’s Church. He worked as a freelance auto mechanic in town. Charlie loved a beautiful car, a fast car…any car and every motorcycle.

He was a 4^th Degree Knight serving with our Lady of the Lakes council #3359. He was always active and volunteered much of his time. Not only did he share his time with our community, he enjoyed traveling to New York City to feed and clothe the homeless. Charlie was a good man.  He worked hard his entire life always trying to support his family back home.

His smile and enthusiasm for life will surely be missed. He leaves joyful memories to his sons Victor, Crespo and Al Hernando, and his seven grandchildren, all of the Philippines; his sisters Rosalita Gordon (the late Gary), Resurreccion David (Ernie), Rebecca Alberto (Ency), Remedios Alvarez (John), his brother Cesar Hernando, and many more dear relatives and friends.  Charlie’s wife Patrocinio and his daughter Marthy Jo passed previously.
