Obituary of James D. Van Blarcom
James D. Van Blarcom, of Clifton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Brightview Senior Living in Randolph. He was just a few weeks shy of sharing 83 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and amazing memories with family and friends.
Born and raised in Paterson to the late John and Bessie Van Blarcom, Jim was one of two sons to bless their household. After graduating Eastside High School, he proudly served our country in the United States Army where he was commended for his service at Fort Slocum. Once returning home, he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from St. Peter’s University in Jersey City. He made a very successful career for himself as an Accountant for the Department of Defense. James retired in 1995 after over 30 years of dedicated service.
Although James did not have children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. Endearingly called “Uncle Jim”, he was an incredible man, hard worker, with a heart of gold. He will forever be missed and treasured in our hearts. Although we are saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his parents and siblings who greeted him at the gates of Heaven.
Uncle Jim leaves only joyful memories to his adored nieces and nephews, Barbara & Paul Leeps, Patricia & William Jimenez, Carol & John Marcotte, John & Jennifer Van Blarcom and Christine & Eric Simmers; and many great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 3rd at 10:15 am at Calvary Cemetery, 50 McLean Blvd, Paterson, NJ 07513. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Uncle Jim here to continue to celebrate the incredible life he endowed to us.
