Joan Lefferts, Denville

Joan Lefferts passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. She shared 81 years of love and joy with her family and friends. Visiting hours will be on Monday, March 22 from 3-6 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville.  A Funeral Service will begin at 5 o’clock that evening.  Private burial to take place at the Denville Cemetery.  Donations in her memory may be made to the Denville Seniors, 155 Morris Avenue, Denville NJ 07834.

Joan was born on January 25, 1940 to Walter and Margaret Jacobson.  She was one of three children to bless the family.   She was raised in Newark and after her schooling as luck would have it, a handsome young fireman who just returned from serving in the US Marines walked into a deli where she was having lunch.  As they say…..the rest was history.  They married in 1962 & later moved to the Rainbow Lakes section of Parsippany, where they started their family, raising three children. Joan was an adoring wife and doting Mother.  The sun rose and set on her three boys and she loved having a house full of their friends.  She enjoyed their summers spent on the beach at Rainbow Lakes and all this beautiful community offered. She was a fireman’s wife and donated much of her time to the fire house.  She served with the Ladies Auxiliary for many years and made dear friends along the way.  She held a job with Morris County Social Services for many years and worked hard helping many in our county get the services they much needed.  She was truly an anchor for so many.

In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her beautiful flower gardens and traveling with her husband Bob.  They enjoyed retirement but of course, their best days were always spent with their grandkids!  Joan was the proud Grandma of eight and loved being a part of their lives and activities! Although we are saddened by her passing, we will cherish our memories forever and always keep her spirit alive.

Predeceased by her husband Robert Franklin (2009); her son Robert (2011); and her siblings Robert and Nancy Jacobson; she is survived by her sons Scott (Regan) and Keith (Kim) and her daughter in law Liliana; her adored  grandchildren Robbie & Crystal, Ian, Anya, & Duncan, and Zachary, Joshua, & Andrew; and many dear friends and relatives.
