Obituary of John Wojtaszek
John Wojtaszek passed away peacefully at his home in Rockaway Twp., NJ on March 16, 2021, at the age of 71.
Born in Elizabeth he had lived in Linden before moving to the White Meadow section of Rockaway Township, NJ in 1974.
John earned his Bachelor’s Degree in education from the University of Bridgeport in1973 and went on to become a teacher at the Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Rockaway, NJ before retiring in 2014. In 2015 he became the Deputy Clerk of Morris County. John was very active in his community, he was the Mayor of Rockaway Township in 1984, a Rockaway Township Committeeman and was President of the R.B.E.A. Teacher’s Union for many years as well as a Past President of the Rockaway Lions Club and was also a member of the NJ Council for History Education. When John was not attending to his many civic roles, he could either be found fishing the rivers and bays of NJ or watching the horses race at the Meadowlands where he worked for many years on the weekends as a teller.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Bette Jane (Marcus) Wojtaszek of Rockaway Township, NJ and also by his loving sister Sandra Wojtaszek of Ft. Mills, SC and by many countless friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday March 18, 2021 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 www.normanderan.com with a prayer service to follow at 1:00PM at the funeral home. Interment services will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Cedar Knolls, NJ.
