Obituary of Josephine Reinhardt
Josephine D. Reinhardt
Josephine “Jo” Reinhardt passed peacefully on Thursday December 24, 2020. She shared 99 years of love and faith with her family. In light of the current health pandemic, private arrangements were held under the direction of the funeral home. Our sincerest wish is to one day be able to return to her church to worship and sing as she so loved to.
Donations in her memory may be made to the good work of the Denville Community Church, 190 Diamond Spring Rd, Denville, NJ 07834.
Jo was born on Sept 2,1921 to the late Eugene and Eva Gillette in Vineland, NJ. She was one of four children to bless the family. Being part of the greatest generation, Jo knew the value of hard work and a dollar. After high school, she graduated from Maryville College in Tennessee and then went on to work for the propeller division of Curtiss Wright, in Fairfield NJ, solving math problems for engineers in the days before calculators were common.
In 1950 she met Frank Reinhardt and they married after 6 yearsof courtship. They settled in Montclair and had their son Donald. As time passed, Jo and Frank became snow birds and enjoyed their yearly trips to Hobe Sound, Florida. In 1995 following Franks passing, Jo headed back North to be closer to her family, especially her grandsons.
Jo was a very spiritual traditional woman and loved to share her gift of music by singing in church and various other choirs and often as a soloist. She was a longtime member of the Denville Community Church where she enjoyed many friendships, singing and being a member of the quilting group, crafting elaborate patterns into her blankets. She spent hours working on crossword puzzles - always challenging and keeping her mind sharp! Although we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace and singing away in Gods sacred choir.
She leaves joyful memories to her son and daughter in law Donald and Mary Reinhardt; her grandsons Drew and Dean Reinhardt; her stepson Dennis Reinhardt; her brother George(Jeanette) Gillette; and many more dear relatives and friends. Her sisters Carol Gorton, Ni Thomas and daughter in law Lee Reinhardt passed previously.
