Obituary of Joseph Bruce D'Adamo
Joseph Bruce D’Adamo passed away at Care One in Parsippany, NJ on November 5, 2020, at the age of 87.
Born in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph James & Ida Margaret(Masucci) D'Adamo he grew up in Dobbs Ferry then raised his family in Fayetteville & Pittsford, NY before moving to Chatham, NJ.
Bruce was a longtime Dodger fan going to Ebbets Field as a child. The game of tennis was one of his true joys, playing almost every day starting as a child playing against a power station wall in Brooklyn then giving a love of the game to his children and grandchildren. His after work matches at the Tennis Club of Rochester were central to his social life.
Bruce relaxed by playing the piano. He loved the study of Jazz and admired Monk, Brubeck, Evans, Tatum, and Peterson. In his spare time he liked building & flying model aircraft. Bruce’s love of aviation led him to get a pilot’s license then earn a Bachelors of Engineering degree at Yale University in 1954 followed by a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Harvard University in 1956. He had a long career in engineering and management at General Precision Laboratories, Airborne Instruments Laboratories, General Electric, Itek, Stromberg-Carlson, and AT&T before retiring in 1998. Bruce holds patents for a variety of developments during his engineering career.
Bruce is survived by his loving children Bruce Gregory and his wife Chris D’Adamo of Denville, NJ, Jeffrey and his wife Janice D’Adamo of Tampa, FL, Justin and his wife Lisa D’Adamo of Loxahatchee, FL and Collin D’Adamo of West Palm Beach, FL (Predeceased by his daughter in Law Robin D’Adamo). He is also survived by his grandchildren Brianna, Neall, Jeffrey William, Brenton, Samantha and Connor as well as his great granddaughter Eleanor and his brother Ralph Raleigh and his wife Mary Anne D’Adamo of Pleasantville, NY.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 10, 2020, from 8:45AM to 9:30AM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church 10 Pocono Ra. Mt. Lakes, NJ 07046. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery 10 West Stevens Ave Hawthorne, NY 10532.
Memorial donations can be made in his memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research by way of inmemof.org.
