Obituary of Patrick Herbert
Patrick Herbert passed away suddenly in the comfort of his home on Thursday, October 15, 2020. He shared 57 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and amazing memories with family and friends.
Patrick was born in Jersey City to the late Francis and Eleanor Herbert. Raised in Waldwick as one of three children to bless the Herbert household, he graduated from Bergen County Technical High School (1981), where he studied horticulture and excelled as a track-and-field pole vaulter.
Patrick found his true calling with the arrival of his children—being a Dad and Grandpa was his greatest joy and unrivaled achievement. He raised his children in Wanaque, NJ, and he taught them all about their Irish heritage—something he took immense pride in. To support his family, he began as the Landscaping Director for the Rockaway Townsquare Mall, ultimately working his way up to the Director of Operations. Throughout his 35-year career at the mall, Patrick was a very hard and dedicated worker with true passion for his job. When Patrick wasn’t working or spending time with his family, you could find him basking in the outdoors, listening to classic rock or country music, or watching his beloved NY Giants or Yankees whenever they were playing. We are deeply saddened by his passing, but we take comfort in knowing we now have the best guardian Angel watching over us.
His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of his adored children, Caitlin (Herbert) Rivera and her husband Dominic, Frank Herbert, and Carolyn Herbert, and their Mom, Debra (Good) Herbert; his treasured grandchildren, Stella and Jacob Rivera; his caring siblings, Timothy Herbert and his wife Ellen, and Eileen (Herbert) Cawley and her husband Jerry; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Memorial Walkthrough Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25th from 10 - 12:30 pm with Funeral Service beginning at 12:30 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Patrick's name to the PKD Foundation, P.O. Box 871847, Kansas City, MO 64187, or by clicking here. Please leave a condolence, share your favorite memory of Patrick, and light a candle to continue to spread the love, light, and incredible life that he endowed to us.
