I just learned of Jerry's death today from a mutual friend. I am truly sorry. Jerry was a friend when I lived in New York City, and he helped me deal with my father's estate after my father died. I remember his being envious of me when I got to crew on a 120-foot yawl. But I took his advice and had a great time on board. My condolences to all of his family. He was a great guy.

Jerry was the kindest, most caring and unselfish person we have ever known. He was always there for you, even when you didn’t realize you needed him. How did he know? That was Jerry. His love of people, telling stories and jokes always kept you entertained. We will miss his warmth, his friendship and his smile that just lite up the room. We are grateful for the years we have known him and to call him our dear friend. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Our love and sincerest condolences to Judy and family.

A lovely service for a kind, gentle, funny, and insightful man. We will miss Jerry each and every day, but especially around Thanksgiving and other Reed family gatherings. Here's a photo from Thanksgiving 2007.

Jerry was one of those guys who I always wanted to know better, and not just because he brightened the last twenty years of my Aunt Judy's life. I'm so happy that Judy and Jerry had at least a couple decades together, though we all wish they had even more. Thanks Jerry, for taking such good care of Judy!

Jerry always had a back scratcher in the shape of a hand with a telescoping wand that he always kept in his shirt pocket next to a pen. I always teased him about it.

So sorry for you loss.
We met Jerry and Judy at Liberty Landing Marina almost 20 years ago and became fast friends. Jerry was this huge presence, bigger than life. We shared a love of being on the water, the theater and, of course, food. The many shared dinners both on the dock, in Jersey City and in our respective homes bring so many fond memories- Jerry’s stories, included.
We are so lucky to have had him in our lives and to have been able to call him our friend. He will be sorely missed.

Unfortunately, we never got to know Jerry very well. We were impressed to read about his history. He was quite and extraordinary man. Apparently, he had a major influence on many lives.
He was quiet at the gatherings of the girls from Forest Hills (probably because he couldn't get a word in edgewise), but always warm and fuzzy (and FUNNY!)
We know he made Judy very happy, and that is important to us.
May you rest in peace, our friend.
Love, Jacki and Bobby

Jerry was a big fan of my quartet which I found very generous. We spent many fun times on his boat with the BBQ and drinks. He was always proud to show me his latest gadget for the boat. He had a very funny extremely dead-pan delivery of jokes. He will be missed.

Most of us get old, Jerry never did. From when I met him, he remained as thrilled by a new bit of technology, as amused by his latest, usually really bad, joke and as outraged by the latest political nonsense. I owe my introduction to Patrick O’Brian to Jerry and we watched the first run of the West Wing on his 10inch flat screen TV. (Which was of course the first flat TV I had ever seen).
He loved and took great delight from his family; he spoke of you often. Judy; He knew how lucky he was to have you.
He won’t be forgotten. Condolences to you all.

We love and miss you Jerry! I will miss your stories, your jokes (even if they were sometimes a little long) and ranting about politics with you after binge-watching MSNBC. We remember our many good times aboard Venture, eating steak dinner at the Strip House and hanging out in the apartment sharing tales. I will always remember the few times we got together those nights when I was working in the NYC office - it was such a thrill to have a meal with family while I was working away from home. We love you!
