Obituary of Sheila Lieberman
Sheila Lieberman passed away peacefully at her home in Fox Hills, located in Rockaway, NJ on Monday, August 31, 2020, at the age of 83.
Born and raised in Brooklyn she later moved with her husband, Stanley, to Fresh Meadows, Queens NY in 1962. In 1968 they moved to the Bayside section of Queens to raise their family. Then in 1987 they moved to Bridgewater, New Jersey and in 2003 to Fox Hills in Rockaway, NJ where she resided happily until her passing.
Sheila worked on Wall Street in the 1950’s before starting a family in 1965. In 1981 she returned to the workforce at Apple & Eve. After moving to NJ, she worked at AT&T and later Lucent Technologies in Basking Ridge, NJ before retiring in 2001.
Sheila was a strong, independent woman who had countless friends, who could talk with her about anything and know that it would always remain in her confidence. She was appreciated for her ability to keep in touch and she never missed a birthday or an anniversary. She loved to travel and would meet with her family anywhere in the world and always showed up with her unique combination of warmth, humor and intelligence. She took great pleasure cooking and entertaining in her beautiful home. Adorned with pictures of friends and family, visitors instantly understood her priorities.
Sheila loved the arts, ballet, plays, museums, and classical music. She loved to read, and tutored young children in Rockaway to help impart her own joy of reading. She was quite civic minded, volunteering during many elections to assist voters in Denville. She enjoyed playing canasta & mahjong for 50 years. Most of all though, she loved spending time with her family and was an exceptionally doting grandmother.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years, Stanley Lieberman in 2007.
Sheila is survived by her loving children David Lieberman and his partner Victor Vieira of London, England; Brian and his wife Kristine, her adoring grandchildren Jakob and Benjamin Lieberman of Chatham, NJ.
