Obituary of Anna M. Mahoney
Anna M. Mahoney passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home in Ledgewood on August 2, 2020. She was just 11 days shy of sharing 76 years of unconditional love, devotion, laughter, and amazing memories with family and friends.
Born and raised in the Bronx to the late George and Anna Lutz(Flynn), she was one of three children to bless the Lutz household. Anna graduated from Our Lady of Mercy Middle School and St. Helena High School, class of 1962, both in the Bronx. A devout Catholic, she was an active member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Denville and St. Matthews Roman Catholic Church in Randolph where she made many lifelong friendships. Anna started her family in the Bronx and moved to Rockaway for a short time before relocating to Denville in 1973 to grow and raise her five children. For many years she had a very successful career working at Liberty Billing and Consulting in Wayne, retiring as a Medical Building Representative.
Anna was very proud of her Irish heritage and her independence. She was a talented needleworker and has made many scarfs, blankets, and more. She was a natural born caregiver and took great pride in taking care of the ones that she loved. A fierce defender of her family, her true happy place was when she was with them; though she dearly enjoyed spending time with her many friends, as she had them everywhere. Without a doubt, the greatest joy in her life was her grandchildren. She will forever be remembered in our hearts and souls. Although she was taken too soon, we take comfort in knowing that she will be looking over her three future great-grandchildren, Aubrey & Ashton, the twins, and a baby boy due in December.
Predeceased by her brother, George Lutz, she leaves only joyful memories to her loving children, Erin (Tim Smith) MacKenzie, Donna (Denny Kitchens) Wendt, Christine (Al) Huelsenbeck, Tommy Mahoney, and Christopher (Jennifer) Mahoney; her cherished grandchildren, Tara Orr, Garrett (Ashley) Orr, Korey Orr, Justin Calloway, Samantha MacKenzie, Connor (Sasha) MacKenzie, Guy Wendt, Colin, Madeline, Ryan, Jacob, Daniel, and Samuel Mahoney; her treasured great-grandchildren, Karlie Orr and Grayson Calloway; her caring brother, Frank (Ronnie) Lutz; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends .
Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6th from 4 - 8 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834. Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 7th at 10 am at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Memorial Donations are being accepted by way of www.inmemof.org to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Anna here to continue to celebrate the life she shared with us.
